I hate election day

I just do. There are never any good choices and I feel like I'm choosing which liar to vote for. I care about alot of things but either party is a vast sea of compromise. I just don't like it.

That's all.

I understand what you're saying. But it's not possible to govern large groups of people without compromising, unless you just oppress them. Democracy involves many compromises. It's still better than the alternative. It's still a privilege to get to vote, and to have a voice in the process. You could even run for office yourself, to get the issues you care about talked about.

I know it's easy for me to be idealistic about a country where I don't even live, and believe me, I see plenty wrong with the system in the US. I still believe that the country works in a way many others around the world do not. And I still think it's worth working to improve it.

I'm not trying to lecture you. :-) Have a good election day!

I so agree. I'd love to see a truly viable multiparty system similar to the European model where compromise is integral to the survival of the system.

I agree Mimi, like in Greece where every party gets seat in the senate depending on the number of votes.
They have a parliament, not a house and senate.
And yes, it is consitutional freedom to vote.

If you lived on my side of town, at least the mayor's race would be an easier decision. There are a lot of great things that could be done with the old mall property, but softball ain't one of them. Especially not if I'm paying for it, and considering that there's a perfectly good park with softball fields within earshot of the proposed new field. Apparently our mayor is trying to own that whole zip code, since she's been crusading to buy the water company across the street. If she could only buy the Perkins between them, she'd have the monopoly, and could start putting houses and hotels on that road and charging twice the rent. [/rant]

As a side note, I really like Monopoly.

Oh, on they mayor's race, our lovely leader has made it all too clear that she will NOT be getting my support come election day. We have a road blocked off thanks to eternally slow moving supposed sewer repairs, causing our street to be a major detour and it has been this way for YEARS, not months. Such that someone very neatly stenciled the word "Forever" under the "Road Closed" barrier.
