How Much Time

Would you give a realtor...

...who has supposedly had your house listed for eight days but has YET to post it on the internet????

...who recommends termite companies based not on who is competent, but apparently based on who is not as good at finding problems. ("Oh, no! You called Terminix and not the croney I recommended? Terminix ALWAYS finds stuff!!!!")

...who starts telephone conversations with you in mid sentence and then constantly goes off on scatterbrained rabbit trails about the other irons she has in the fire, instead of focusing on her business with you while she's talking to you.

...who fails repeatedly to explain what she's doing in lay terms and speaks in half thoughts?

...who leaves your place saying that an open house is not going to be necessary since everyone looks at the internet these days, and then calls you to schedule an open house.

Seriously, how much time would you give such a realtor before moving on to someone who can actually communicate effectively in various ways?

I'd like to know. Cuz at this point I'm thinking people buy houses from her just to get her out of their lives.

...might go find someone else. I am spoiled. The only time we needed a realtor recently was to sell a piece of land for my father who is in a nursing home. It was on the market 5 days...we got list price. I'm talking about a really overgrown lot that needs a lot of work! We were blessed indeed!

hope things go better for you...
How did you find her? Word of mouth, recommendation? just wonderin'

She does sound a bit dodgy, or at least ditzy. But really I don't have any advice. Realtors on the whole are like car salesmen, and they make me nervous. I've always wondered if perhaps our realtor embellished things a bit to speed up our decision making process. I've always felt we were rushed, I just don't know whether or not it was necessary. Good luck.

Not much time Alana. Your house should have been on the internet and Multilistings within 24 hours. What does she say when you ask her why that hasn't happened?

Perhaps it would be wise to keep notations of her failings and give her broker a call.

Open houses are good for the realtors to do a walk through and familiarize themselves with the house or so I am told. Very rarely does a sale come from one.

In all seriousness, I'd give her one more week. And let her know that up front.

Send an email to Mimi. She's a realtor and maybe can give you some pointers.

Not very much time at all, I'd say. Ah, good luck with her.

Give her the boot, and quickly. You have too much to lose with an incompetent realtor.

As an agent, I say, get someone else.

And, apologies for the entire profession. I'm sorry.

How do you know anyone buys a house from her? Really. No time at all. Period.

Go go and go! We really liked our realtor, call if you'd like his name.

Well, one thing I am learning more and more in life is to trust my instincts. If I think someone is a flake, I'm almost unfailingly correct. If I had followed my gut earlier this year, I would not be in the business difficulty that I am in right now.

My tendency is to give people too many chances. Now I move along to greener pastures when I see the signs of a bad thing.

I would not give your realtor one more day. Carolyn Wheeler is a personal church friend of ours that we've known for over 15 years. She is in Lex. Maybe you could try her for a new realtor.
